Position Summary

The Field Medical Scientific Associate Director (FMSAD) is an elevated position in the Sanofi US Dermatology Field Medical Team. The FMSAD will focus efforts in the dupilumab dermatology portfolio comprising of pipeline and approved products in this therapeutic area) and report to the National Field Director, while maintaining modified field MSL role & territory with limited responsibilities. The FMSAD role is focused on supporting the ongoing training and educational needs for medical science liaisons and unmet medical educational needs of the US Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and Healthcare Advocates (HCAs), leading to optimal outcomes for patients within the dupilumab dermatology space.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing non-promotional clinical, scientific, educational, and research support through developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and health care professionals (HCPs) in their respective region.
  • Lead development and execution of the dupilumab dermatology field training curriculum aligned to NAM (North American Medical) Dermatology strategic vision
  • Assume field medical and scientific training-related leadership and project management responsibilities. In this capacity, this individual will collaborate closely with National Field Director and Medical Directors to identify, plan, organize, and deliver training (therapeutic and developmental) and continuous learning to the field medical organization on the latest trends and data as it relates to dupilumab in the dermatological space.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of the dermatology therapeutic landscape including current treatment strategies, competitors, and new scientific and clinical care developments
  • Lead the implementation of training and development plans across the entire dupilumab dermatology area by serving as the coordinator for each of the indication-specific work teams. Collaborate to ensure appropriate field medical training for dermatology indications across the US franchise.
  • Project management of identified MSL training needs and assists in the delivery of both scientific training and training of new field-based educational tools and resources
  • Collaborates with field operations in implementing and managing the new-hire MSL training program
  • Prioritizes mentorship and best practices in field approaches when designing and delivering field-based training
  • Demonstrates innovative ideas and cultivates continuous improvement in all training-related activities
  • Maintains medical and scientific knowledge through continuing medical and scientific education including attending symposia and keeping abreast of the current literature.
  • Participates in medical education for HCPs through data presentation and discussion to enhance product and disease state knowledge
  • Works closely with the US Dermatology leadership team to develop and utilize metrics to identify educational gaps and mechanisms for closing those gaps.
  • Responds to unsolicited requests for medical information
  • Ensure full compliance with all corporate and industry policies and legal and regulatory requirements, for all medical affairs activities.

Other Responsibilities

  • Pipeline support in Phase II clinical development – liaison with CSU (Clinical Study Unit), CRD (Clinical Research & Development) and broader Immunology pipeline as appropriate
  • Leader in innovative initiatives in communication and training
  • Coordinate with global medical communications on shared training endeavors and other Sanofi training leaders as needed.
  • Support and collaborate with the Field Medical Excellence group through communication and leveraging field medical training, best practices, and resources
  • Manage ad hoc training or other projects as assigned by the field medical leadership
  • Identify and develop alternative training venues and methodologies to enhance flexibility and delivery of training offerings. Work continuously to refine the field medical training curriculum and certification process for new hires.
  • Attendance at MSL leadership team meetings and NAM organizational meetings
  • Interface with Sanofi Genzyme field medical training colleagues to ensure alignment around training best practices, field medical training processes, SOPs, and audit preparedness

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • MD, PharmD, PhD or other postgraduate -level degree preferred
  • MSL experience in therapeutic area is preferred; minimum of 3 years of successful performance and advancement within pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs
  • Knowledge of instructional design and aspects of adult learning experience is helpful
  • Previous training experience within Medical Affairs organization is preferred
